Environment Minister Sussan Ley says the government’s plan to transform the nation’s approach to waste management was “real micro-economic reform”. Prime Minister Scott Morrison has committed to developing new recycling infrastructure, outlining a three point policy to increase the demand for recycled products, boost jobs and develop a national waste market. Ms Ley told Sky News the government’s waste initiative would "turn plastic into a resource, it is just not seeing waste as a problem to be solved”. "Householders need to have confidence that what they are putting in their recycling bin is actually recycled so that is the action we are taking with all the work we are doing with waste” she said. “We have talked about this for so long and now it is time to do something about it. “It is our waste, it is our responsibility.” Image: Getty
