Liberal Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells has urged the government to uncouple itself with China and hold the country accountable for its role in the coronavirus pandemic. Ms Fierravanti-Wells has raised concern over the effectiveness of a motion set to pass before the World Health Assembly as it contains no mention of China or any suggestion of where the virus may have originated. She warned it was evident from a brief overview that the motion had been “considerably watered down”. Senior Ministers continue to be stonewalled by Chinese correspondents regarding trade relations, with Agriculture Minister David Littleproud informed by his Beijing counterpart that there would be no opportunity for trade discussions in the near future.
