The coronavirus outbreak has thrown all aspects of our economy into doubt, including the housing market and while seller leads are on the rise, the lasting impact on retail, office space and construction is yet to be determined. Chief Economist from REA Group Nerida Conisbee told Sky News “shopping centres have been hit with a lot of store closures, it is very uncertain as to whether people will return to shopping in the same way that they did prior to COVID-19”. “And then office buildings a lot of companies are getting used to people working from home,” she said. “We are a bit unsure as to how many people will return and there is going to be a lot of negotiating taking place once people return to work in terms of the amount of office space companies will require.”
