Israel is set to become the first nation to completely shut its borders in response to the new Omicron COVID variant. Pending government approval - all foreigners will be banned from entering for 14 days. Returning Israeli citizens will be required to present a negative PCR test on arrival - and then quarantine for up to a week depending on their vaccination status. So far Israel has confirmed just one case of the new variant.
