Phelps draws poor ballot spot in Wentworth

September 28, 2018. High-profile independent Kerryn Phelps speaks after the random draw for positions in the Wentworth by-election in Sydney where she drew 15th on the 16-candidate ballot paper. Dr Phelps concedes her changes of taking Wentworth from the Liberal Party in the looming by-election have taken a hit, saying “being down near the bottom of the ballot form might make it a little bit of a harder task from here. It is what it is”. Dr Phelps wouldn’t be drawn on whether she thought Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore to back independent Licia Heath in the poll was personal. Dr Phelps had a public falling out with Ms Moore in 2017 when she was serving as her deputy on the council. (AAP Video/Tom Rabe)
