Rally in Brisbane against abortion changes

September 1, 2018. Federal Liberal National senator Matt Canavan speaking to media at a rally in Brisbane opposing the decriminalisation of abortion in Queensland. Canavan says it's important to stand against the bill as it would be the "most radical" legislation in the world and allow mothers to terminate pregnancy after 22 weeks, despite legislators claiming the opposite. Under the proposed changes, abortion would be legal up to 22 weeks, while abortions after that could be approved under certain conditions with the approval of two separate doctors. Queensland and NSW are the only states of Australia that still treat abortion as a crime, with the Queensland laws dating back to 1899. (AAP Video/Stuart Layt)
