Sir Richard Branson says the Apollo 11 moon landing on July 20, 1969 was a ‘transformational’ moment in his life which inspired his love of space travel. The Virgin Group founder has told Sky News he remembered watching the landing with his father shortly after his 19th birthday, saying the event was a catalyst for his future space business ventures. ‘If the moon landing had not taken place it would not have inspired me to want to go into space,’ he said.
