US President Donald Trump has slammed former special council Robert Mueller and his congressional testimony as a “phony cloud”. In his testimony, Mr Mueller said his report "did not conclude that the president did not commit the obstruction of justice" and "did not exonerate" him. Mr Mueller answered questions from both sides of United States politics on his report into Russian interference of the 2016 election and any possible links to Mr Trump’s campaign. The 74-year-old also told the hearing that Mr Trump wanted to fire him when he headed up the Russia probe and the president refused a request to be interviewed by his team. He initially testified he would have sought to indict Mr Trump were it not for a Justice Department policy against charging a sitting president. When asked if Mr Trump could be prosecuted for obstruction of justice after leaving office, Mr Mueller said "true". Image: AP
