Financial regulator slammed in scathing review

A new report has slammed Australia's financial regulator for 'lacking the enforcing appetite' to police Australia's banks and superannuation system. The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority's (APRA) conduct and leadership have come under review by former ACCC chairman Graeme Samuel, who has made a list of recommendations on how best to reform the financial regulator. Mr Samuel's report could open the door for Treasurer Josh Frydenberg to give APRA the power to crackdown harder on big corporations who don't comply with regulations. Image: Getty
