Intruder arrested after scaling Buckingham Palace perimeter

A man has been arrested after scaling the front gates at Buckingham Palace in the early hours of the morning. The Metropolitan Police said officers arrested a 22-year-old man about 2am on suspicion of trespass. It took police four minutes to apprehend the man. The police statement added that the man was apprehended by officers from the Metropolitan Police's royalty and specialist protection command after he climbed over the palace gates. 'The man was not found in possession of any offensive weapons, and the incident is not being treated as terrorist-related,' it said. The man remains in custody at a central London police station.
