A former advisor to ex-UK prime minister Tony Blair says no country has got mental health right so far. Alastair Campbell has been appointed as a global ambassador to Australians for Mental Health, an organisation pushing for systematic change. During a mental health discussion in Melbourne, Mr Campbell said “most advanced democracies do some of it well; I don’t think there’s any that you would say do it really well”. Mr Campbell’s sentiments have been echoed by the medical community. Professor Patrick McGorry said “there’s been zero progress in terms of mortality and morbidity in the last 10 years”.
