Farmers are reportedly facing massive hikes in the price of water as investors allegedly hoard billions of litres. Water Resources Minister David Littleproud is under pressure from the agriculture industry with claims investors are playing the market. There are concerns the price of water for irrigation could be pushed up from about $135 per megalitre to $800, meaning many crops will no longer be profitable if prices continue to inflate.
