Jacinda Ardern and Peter Dutton trade barbs over Australia’s deportation laws

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has hit back at Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton after he accused her of grandstanding six months out from an election with her criticism of Australia’s deportation of Kiwi criminals. Ms Ardern took a public swipe at Prime Minister Scott Morrison at the weekend, demanding Australia stop deporting its people and problems to New Zealand. The NZ PM defended her statement saying it was a "defence of NZ's principle position on this issue". More than 2,000 Kiwi criminals have been deported by Australia since 2015. Prime Minister Ardern argued anyone who has lived in Australia since they were a child should not be deported from the country. Image: News Corp Australia
