Rockhampton aged care nurse tests positive to COVID-19

Queensland Health Minister Steven Miles has confirmed a nurse who works at the North Rockhampton Nursing Centre has tested positive to the coronavirus. Speaking to the media on Friday, the health minister said health authorities worked quickly to identify and test any workers or residents at the aged care facility who may have come into contact with the infected nurse. While Rockhampton’s last recorded case was on May 1, he said the positive result proved the need for people to remain vigilant. “We need to be able to respond as a health service incredibly rapidly to ensure that that doesn’t lead to an outbreak,” he said.
