The Australian Medical Association has expressed concerns the amendments made to the New South Wales roadmap out of COVID-19 reflect a potential “sidelining of public health advice”. AMA President Dr Omar Khorshid says it is critical to observe the impact of each step on transmission and COVID case numbers. He fears reopening too fast will lead to avoidable deaths. The decision – which include changes to indoor and outdoor capacities - was reached in a crisis cabinet meeting on Wednesday. It comes as NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet faced public backlash for the absence of Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant at yesterday’s press conference announcing the changes.
