The headland formed at the coast of the Spanish island of La Palma continued to grow as lava flowed from the Cumbre Vieja volcano, footage posted by Spain’s Geological and Mining Institute on November 14 shows. Since eruptions began on September 19, lava flows have covered nearly 1,024 hectares (roughly 3.95 square miles) as of November 13, destroying 2,618 buildings, the European Union’s Copernicus satellite program observed.
