‘Did It Hurt?’: Children Cheer as They Receive First Vaccine Doses in Hartford

Leading hospitals across the United States began administering COVID-19 shots to children aged between 5 and 11 on Tuesday, November 2, after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the green light for a pediatric vaccine. At Hartford Healthcare in Connecticut, six children between the ages of five and eight received their first doses on camera on Tuesday night. After the first child in the group received his shot, another child asked him, “Did it hurt?” The boy shook his head and said no. “Okay. I’m way calmer now,” the other child answered. The six children – Kareem, Thomas, Kailyn, Addison, Maisie, and Jaxson – were among the first children under 12 in the US to get vaccinated after the FDA’s approval, Hartford Healthcare said.
