New York Police Prepare for Thanksgiving Day Parade

The New York City Police Department released footage on November 22 showing officers setting up concrete barriers on Manhattan’s Upper West Side ahead of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. After a heavily downsized celebration last year, Thursday’s parade will travel from 77th Street and Central Park West down to Macy’s flagship store on 34th Street, according to the company. This footage, taken on Columbus Avenue near the start of the parade, shows members of the NYPD setting out barriers between the sidewalk and street. “Just like in years past, NYPD cops will be ensuring a safe and fun day, our partners at @NYCSanitation will be helping to close streets — and 360,000 pounds of concrete barriers will be placed along the route,” wrote Deputy Commissioner John Miller.
