Republican Glenn Youngkin winning the Virginia gubernatorial election means "bad news" for President Joe Biden and the Democrats at the mid-terms, according to UVA Center for Politics Director Dr Larry Sabato. It comes as Republican Glenn Youngkin was elected as the next Governor of Virginia. He is the first Republican to win statewide office in Virginia since 2009 – in the first major election of the Biden Presidency. "This mini-mid term is viewed as an indicator of what may happen – and usually the indication is accurate," Dr Sabato told Sky News Australia. "This is not good news for President Biden whose ratings are quite low nationally – low 40s – and this state which he carried by 10 points, Virginia, he's at 45 per cent – and that was enough to defeat the Democrats for a wide variety of offices here."
