Restrictions ease in New South Wales

Coronavirus restrictions in New South Wales are easing further today as the state nears 90 per cent fully vaccinated. The target is expected to be reached today – triggering the next step on the road to normality. There is no limit to the number of visitors allowed in a home and no cap on bookings for hospitality venues. Patron limits will be removed for major recreation and entertainment facilities – subject to density limits or fixed seat capacity. Restaurants and non-critical retail can allow one person per two square metres and singing and dancing will return – allowing nightclubs to open. Amusement and play centres will also reopen. Music festivals are still prohibited and masks will remain in place for indoor settings. The changes were brought forward from December 1 but unvaccinated people will have to wait until the state reaches the 95 per cent double dose target – expected on December 15 – to rejoin the community.
