Anti-military protesters took to the streets in Khartoum, Sudan, on Sunday, November 21, after Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok was reinstated following his arrest by the nation’s military in a coup on October 25. Hamdok reportedly signed a deal with military leaders on November 21 to head a temporary government of civilian technocrats, angering some demonstrators who protested against any military involvement in governing and demanded power be returned to the people of Sudan, reports said. Aljazeera reported Hamdok said Sudan would hold elections “before July 2023.” Video filmed by Rasd Sudan Network shows people in fatigues carrying rifles advancing on protesters and firing tear gas in Khartoum on Sunday. The Central Committee of Sudan Doctors reported at least one person, a boy aged 16, was killed by live rounds during the protest actions and said “many more” were injured by bullets.
