The Queensland government is calling on its federal counterpart to intervene after a state court banned the state's shark culling program. The Federal Court upheld a decision by the appeals tribunal, which ruled drum lines should be removed from 27 beaches from Gladstone to Cairns. Queensland Tourism Minister Kate Jones said the ruling was “frustrating”. “We have a program in place that has worked for a long period of time and the tourism industry has confidence in,” she said. “What we’re getting asked to do is look at something that isn’t proven technology at this state.”
