January 03, 2020. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews updates the number of people unaccounted for in the Gippsland bushfires to 28. Andrews is speaking to the media in Melbourne about the evacuation of the East Gippsland shire, Mansfield shire, Wellington shire, Wangaratta rural shire, Towong shire, Alpine shire and the Mount Buller, Mount Hotham and Mount Stirling Alpine resorts. Victoria Police Commissioner Graham Ashton says that police won't be forcibly removing people from the evacuation zones, but that they will use their judgement to work with the communities.
