ASX opens lower as global factors persist

The ASX opened lower on Tuesday by about 0.2 per cent after five consecutive days of gains at market open. All United States stock markets have been closed due to Martin Luther King Jr Day which has left Australian investors more hesitant to buy. Another factor weighing the market down is the International Monetary Fund trimming its global forecast for economic growth to 3.3 per cent, down from the projected 3.6 per cent.
