SA budget surplus unlikely after fires

The financial fallout of the bushfire crisis has made a South Australian budget surplus unlikely, according to the state's treasurer. In the mid-year budget review in December, Treasurer Rob Lucas predicted a budget surplus of $91 million for 2019-2020. The most significant fires in South Australia this fire season have been the Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island fires. Three lives were lost as well as more than 160 homes. Image: News Corp Australia
