Supplied video obtained Thursday, January 2, 2020 and captured on December 31, 2019 by Peter O'Malley from the shore of Swan Lake, south of Sussex Inlet. The series of videos shows firefighting aircraft taking on water before the sky, filled with smoke, turns dark as a southerly blows through the area. After receiving an SMS from the authorities and clearing an area around nearby cabins, O'Malley returns to the lake where flames from bushfires can be seen. O'Malley says: "Hours after my first video the whole sky was black and red, the wind was ridiculously strong and the fire was continuing to break through... all we could really do was watch as the fire continued around to Cudmirrah."
