Australia's future weapons and cyber defence technologies will be accelerated under the AUKUS agreement to counter China's large-scale investment in quantum technology and artificial intelligence. Scott Morrison will deliver a speech asking governments, industry and universities to target nine priority technologies including underwater drones, explosives and robots. The Prime Minister will say the new technologies will help protect Australia from advanced cyber attacks. AUKUS officials are set to report back before the end of the year to coordinate security priorities. Canberra will also invest $100 million under the plan.
