NSW set to scrap mandatory QR code check ins at low-risk venues

Mandatory QR check-ins could soon be scrapped in low-risk venues across New South Wales should COVID cases continue to fall. Some locations - including shopping centres and cafes - could transition to voluntary sign-ins by Christmas, health advice permitting. Customer Services Minister Victor Dominello supports the move, but says measures will remain in high-risk zones - like gyms and pubs - into next year. The state is also expected to reduce the quarantine period for close contacts, only requiring them to isolate until they return a negative test result. It will mean New South Wales will adopt the same management model as Victoria.
