Roads leading to Lake Tahoe in Placer County, California, were covered in snow on Thursday, January 16, during a period of heavy falls. A winter storm warning was in effect on Thursday with more than 2 feet expected on the Sierra crest. A foot of snow was expected at elevations below 7,000 feet with 18 inches to 2 feet on ridge tops. Wind gusts at the highest elevations were forecasted to top 100 mph. This video was taken from Interstate 80, where chain laws were in effect unless vehicles were equipped with four-wheel drive.
