Cyber security expert Nigel Phair has backed Malcolm Turnbull’s call for Britain to urge caution on Huawei, telling Sky News the former prime minister is “right” in his warning. Mr Turnbull on Wednesday warned the United Kingdom could jeopardise the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing arrangement if it allows the Chinese telco to roll out its 5G network. The UNSW professor said the problem for governments was Huawei’s price – which Mr Phiar said could be up to a third the cost of its competitors – offers a lucrative pull.
