Activists marched in Caracas, Venezuela, on September 28, International Safe Abortion Day, to call for the decriminalization of abortion, local media reported. Abortion is only permitted in the country if the mother’s health is at risk from the pregnancy, according to local media. Abortion rights activist also took to the streets in other Latin American countries, including, Mexico, Chile, El Salvador, and Colombia, Voice of America reported.
