Australian Nuclear Association's John Harries says the nation “clearly needs” a nuclear industry to fix up the energy system and get to net zero carbon emissions. It comes as NSW One Nation Leader Mark Latham says he intends to bring his Bill to lift the state’s ban on nuclear power and uranium mining to a vote when the parliament resumes. Mr Harries told Sky News host Paul Murray the AUKUS submarine deal has “detoxified the word 'nuclear' to an extent” but the legislation prohibiting domestic nuclear energy “desperately” needs to be removed.
