Ash and lava spewed from the cone of La Palma’s Cumbre Vieja volcano on Tuesday morning, September 28, as lava continued to flow toward the sea. Drone footage captured over Todoque, Spain, shows the glowing lava and gas emanating from the volcano on Tuesday morning, as well as mounds of cooled lava and ash. Copernicus EMS said on Tuesday that satellite imagery indicated that some 589 buildings and 21 kilometers (13 miles) of roadway had been destroyed by volcanic activity since September 19.
