Firefighters in California told local media they were “optimistic” on Saturday, September 4, as containment grew on the Caldor fire burning across two counties near the Nevada border. Video shared by the Cal Fire Amador-El Dorado unit shows a water drop near Highway 88 and Silver Lake that day. By Sunday, September 5, the fire was reported to be 215,400 acres in size (approximately 336 square miles) and was 43 percent contained. The blaze had been just 20 percent contained on September 1.
