Australian and American officials have displayed a united front one day after announcing the historic AUKUS alliance. Foreign Minister Marise Payne and Defence Minister Peter Dutton joined their American counterparts in reinforcing the alliance's strategic commitment in the Indo-Pacific region. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says Australia and America had forged an “unshakeable alliance”. Mr Blinken highlighted Australia's defiance in the threat of China's economic coercion. The AUKUS agreement was announced shortly after the 70th anniversary of the ANZUS treaty.
