Josh Frydenberg warns Australia may pay a price for not adopted net zero target

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has warned Australia will pay a price financially if it does not adopt a target for net zero emissions by 2050. Mr Frydenberg said Australia will face higher borrowing costs if more action is not taken and is to give a speech to the Australian Industry group. In part of the speech he is to give, Mr Frydenberg emphasises Australia must not be seen to be “not transitioning” to clean energy with the rest of the world. Prime Minister Scott Morrison was asked about the apparent shift towards net zero and said he “would have announced it” if Australia had made the decision. “Australia has not made any final decision on that matter and we’re still; we’ll be considering further when I return to Australia the plan,” Mr Morrison said.
