New South Wales considers extra frontline workers

Reinforcements could be brought to the frontline of the New South Wales COVID-19 response as the state faces a challenging fortnight. Authorities are preparing for a surge in COVID-19 cases, with infections likely to peak in October. A group of Sydney firefighters and paramedics are on standby as a workforce is being reviewed, which could include graduates being accelerated into the workforce and annual leave cancellations could be implemented. Fire and Rescue New South Wales says it is prepared to provide assistance to the state's strained hospital system.
