Queensland economy experiencing ‘fair bit of economic stress’

Judo Bank economic advisor Warren Hogan says there’s going to be a “fair bit of economic stress” occurring in parts of the Queensland economy, despite the state not being in lockdown. Mr Hogan said this was likely due to “the lack of tourist flow out of New South Wales and Victoria”. “I think that’s where the hours worked are being lost, and I think that’s where the stress in the Queensland economy is. “Their economy is open … so a lot of the economy is going along fine. “But I think there’s pockets, most likely to be around tourism, that are being devastated." Mr Hogan added the Queensland economy would need to be open “especially ahead of the summer holidays and Christmas”.
