The Netherlands will enter a tough lockdown tomorrow morning to contain the Omicron COVID variant. Under the new measures restaurants, non-essential shops, gyms and hairdressers will be closed until January 14 and all schools will shut their doors until January 9. Outdoor gatherings will be restricted to maximum of two people. The Netherlands has recorded more than 14,000 cases in the past day, bringing its total to more than 2.9 million.
