Western Australia records five new local cases

Western Australia has recorded five new local COVID-19 cases linked to an infected backpacker who flew in from Queensland. In response, more restrictions have been introduced and borders have tightened with South Australia and the Sunshine state. There are concerns the Perth Mess Hall event on Friday night could turn into a super spreader as 400 people were in attendance, including 100 in from a backpacker hostel in Fremantle. All five cases are believed to be in their 20s, with two being vaccinated, two unvaccinated, and one is unconfirmed.
