Local authorities initiated search and rescue operations across parts of Catalonia, Spain, on September 2, after torrential rain caused destruction and power outages across the region, according to local media. Over 250 millimeters (about 9.8 inches) of rain fell September 1-2 in Montsia’s Alcanar municipality, according to the Meteorological Service of Catalonia. This aerial footage taken by the drone unit of the Catalan police force Mossos d’Esquadra shows search and rescue efforts for possible victims during the floods in southern Catalonia’s Montsia and Baix Ebre. An overturned vehicle and scattered debris is seen by the coast near the end of the video. Credit: Mossos d’Esquadra via Storyful
