Louisiana Cops Challenge NYPD Officers to Pronounce Louisiana Place Names

As out-of-state assistance arrived in Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, a Hammond police officer had some fun in a moment of downtime by testing the pronunciation skills of two New York City police officers. This footage was posted to Facebook by the Hammond Police Department on Thursday, September 2, and shows the two New York Police Department officers failing to pronounce local place names, including Tchoupitoulas, Amite, and Ouachita. President Joe Biden visited Louisiana on September 3 to assess the damage inflicted by Hurricane Ida. The storm hit Louisiana on August 29 as a Category 4 hurricane, causing widespread destruction and prompting large-scale recovery efforts. Credit: Hammond Police Department via Storyful
