River Floodwaters Submerge Vehicles in Philadelphia

Civic leaders in Philadelphia asked people in flooded and flood-prone areas of the city to shelter in place, local media reported on Thursday, September 2, after the Schuylkill River burst its banks amid torrential rain on September 1. This footage filmed by Brandon Dixon shows vehicles submerged by the river’s floodwaters on Thursday morning. The third clip shows a bird’s-eye view of the rising waters near Walnut Street. Rescue efforts continued in the state after severe flooding and a confirmed EF-2 tornado swept through on Wednesday. Dozens of people died due to Wednesday’s severe weather in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, according to media reports. Credit: Brandon Dixon via Storyful
