A winter storm warning was in place for parts of California on Thursday, December 16, with heavy snow covering Soda Springs, reputed to be one of the snowiest places in the state. This video released by UC Berkeley’s Central Sierra Snow Lab shows the research institute’s grounds in Soda Springs, California, covered in snow. They said Thursday’s precipitation brought the seven-day snowfall in the area to nearly 80 inches. The lab anticipated “a couple days of calm weather” with “more snow on the way though!” The National Weather Service said travel was not advised while the winter storm warning was in place until 10 am local time.
