Wild thunderstorms slammed parts of eastern Australia overnight. Sky News meteorologist Rob Sharpe said Byron Bay got hit the hardest with winds of up to 130 kilometres per hour. “Plenty of trees came down. The schoolies in the area were ducking for cover,” he said. “We had large hail with plenty of thunderstorms in northeastern New South Wales and they made their way into south east Queensland.”
