The Israeli Defence Force is “touting its success” at destroying many kilometres of tunnels under Gaza but the conflict will not be over until Israel deems Hamas unable to retaliate, according to Sky News contributor Michael Ware. “What started out years ago as smuggling tunnels under the border and then extended into terror tunnels into Israel has now been in the last seven years into what the Israeli security forces call a metro or a mini city,” he told Sky News. Mr Ware said it was possible Hamas could be manufacturing rockets from inside the tunnels and Israel will not stop their attack until Hamas loses this capability. “The way it’s going to end certainly from Israel’s point of view is only when they have so significantly degraded Hamas’ military capability that Hamas will be gun shy from attacking in the near future.”
