Cyclone Yaas was downgraded to a deep depression by May 27, but was still expected to bring heavy rain through the day to eastern parts of India, the India Meteorological Department said. The storm made landfall in Odisha on Wednesday, with winds of up to 85 km/h (53 mph). Four people were reported to have died, and 2.1 million were evacuated. The India Meteorological Department issued a rainfall warning for parts Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim on Thursday, as the storm moved north and weakened.
