The Victorian government has appealed to the Commonwealth for additional ADF support as the state enters its first day of lockdown. “I want to welcome the PM’s comment that the Commonwealth will be working hand in glove with Victorian authorities, “ Acting Premier James Merlino told the media on Friday. “I want to thank him for that and to that end there is some additional assistance that we require and I’ve contacted the PM this morning; we’ll be putting a formal request through for additional ADF staff. “So the request will be for around 160 ADF staff for at least the next fortnight to assist our authorised officers in door knocking … positive cases … primary close contacts.” Victoria recorded four new coronavirus infections overnight out of 47,462 tests - taking the state's caseload to 30.
