Fox News correspondent Greg Palkot says the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas seems to be holding and quiet has fallen over the region. “From all our indications across Israel and across Gaza it is quiet, it is holding but frankly the bombardments went right up until the 2am local time,” he told Sky News. “It’s a major, major accomplishment, apparently Egyptian diplomats played a significant role in working directly and indirectly with both sides to achieve this, and yes we heard from Prime Minister (Benjamin) Netanyahu’s office saying that this was mutual and this was nonconditional.” Mr Palkot said both sides “can claim some kind of victory” over the events of the past week but it came at a high cost. “It couldn’t have come a second too soon, the toll was very high around 230 dead in Gaza, 12 dead on this side of the border here in Israel as well as injured in both locations.”
