‘Everyone’s there to help’: Flood victim’s house and cattle washed down the river

A woman who lost her house and almost 200 cattle down the Manning River on the NSW Mid North Coast says her neighbours have been amazing and offered “so much support”. Tracia Milton is the owner of the house - which was being rented by a couple - and told Sky News things are “starting to look worse” as the waters recede. “As the waters have receded, now we can actually see the devastation that is on our land. Everything that has gone and the work ahead of us,” Ms Milton said. “The neighbours are amazing, the community is wonderful, we have so much support, everyone’s just there to help us. “We know we’re not the only ones, there are so many people that are out there that are doing it tough and have had losses”. According to reports, Ms Milton’s house travelled around a kilometre down the river before it sunk but her main concern is the cattle. Ms Milton said neighbours and a nearby primary school are sheltering some of their cows. “We had 192 cattle that washed down the river and we’re just trying to hope that we can get a few of them back.”
